Wake Up Hour - Jeff Jones
Eric Greitens is having a little bit of a rough go of it after admitting to an affair last night. Testing the depth of his support will be interesting. The NHL announced their All Star teams yesterday and Vladimir Tarasenko was not included. Does the NHL not consider Tarasenko to be a true superstar? The Canadian Olympic team is likely to be announced today as well, and Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou are unlikely to make it. GOP operatives are coming out against Greitens and he may be in trouble.
Segment One (with Brandon Lang) - Chris Denman, Michael Gaines, Jeff Jones
We're off and running with Giamatti having some struggles turning microphones on. Chris and Jeff have sweaty pits but Gaines says he never has that problem. GIamatti is the fashion expert of the show. Has anyone here taken an IQ test? The pipeline to different colleges definitely comes from a variety of friend groups. Governor Greitens is having a difficult morning, and the Friends Of WAL page had the news before it was released last night. Greitens is denying all of the blackmail allegations while acknowledging the affair. Any more confirmation of the blackmail aspect of the story would probably be enough to run Greitens's career into the ground. An MLB agent got caught recording his clients in the shower and Gaines knew him personally. Did Gaines "network" with this agent? Mizzou had a hugely important win last night. Brandon Lang (@realbrandonlang) joins the show to talk about excitement with his Jaguars and the rest of the NFL. Football experts are heavy on the Falcons over the Eagles but the money is on the Eagles. That game will be difficult to bet. App State outdrew the Chargers and Gaines says it's fake news, but Jeff is demanding everyone supports the Neers. Go Neers, drink beers.
Segment Two (with Kent Bottenfield) - Chris Denman, Michael Gaines, Jeff Jones
We're coming back live with Cardinals legend Kent Bottenfield (@KentBottenfield). Kent says he's a Cardinals fan first and foremost, and Cubs fans give him a hard time for it. Chris asks Kent about hockey coming back to Montreal instead of baseball, and Kent says he thinks soccer is coming back to South America as well. Jeff has ninety second of hockey for everyone. Colton Parayko was in Columbia last night which seems fairly curious. Maybe his background from a bad part of Edmonton makes him think Columbia is cool. Michael Wacha got name dropped on Big Brother a whole bunch a couple seasons ago. UCF is challenging Alabama to a throw down for the national championship. College administrators are probably the worst people at their jobs in the country. Is Heather Kozar related to Bernie Kosar? The Bears hired Mark Helfrich and Gaines is excited about it. Floyd Mayweather was interviewed about the Me Too movement yesterday and gave exactly the Floyd answer you might expect. Harvey Weinstein got smacked in the face out for dinner and Paul Sorvino said he would kill him. We're going Best Of tomorrow so Chris can cover UFC and Jeff can go cover the Cardinals this weekend. Bert Sugar will not be in town this weekend. Is Jeff afraid of Tommy Pham? Giamatti is gonna remix the hockey update music into a sweet EDM jam.
Segment Three (with Preacher Lawson) - Chris Denman, Jeff Jones
Leaning in to the mic socks is never a good idea. They have a little bit of an odor. Vegas is at the top of the standings and that's pretty wild. Preacher Lawson (@PreacherLawson) joins us live in studio! Cursing in front of Preacher's mom is not allowed under any circumstances. Preacher promises he won't do bad jokes this weekend. AGT changed his life and he has absolutely no negative reaction to it whatsoever. LA is different from Memphis but Preacher moved around a lot. The insanity of being around people older who are ridiculously funny is hard to wrap your head around sometimes. Men by and large are pretty gross and terrible. Sometimes celebrities need their space, no matter how big they are. Sometimes random guests are very un-self aware but sometimes the conversation is great. Burping into the radio microphone is a big challenge sometimes. The RFT took a weird shot at the source in the Greitens affair and it doesn't reflect well on them. Greitens may get to stay but it'll end up being a political question more than a legal question. Does Cal May ask the first question at Winter Warmup? Fair or Foul closes the show as always.
